THANK YOU for an awesome three weeks of hard core CAASPP Testing with the support, encouragement and love to all of our students!  Thank you, also, for an awesome Teacher Appreciation Week and lunch!  We truly appreciate all of the support!!

13 Reasons Why Season 2 comes out today and, while this engaging but dark series is widely popular, there are conversations that parents need to have with their children.  Commonsensemedia.org has 5 conversations to have with your kids after watching 13 Reasons Why.  It has generated MULTIPLE conversations at home, as well as, at GVMS.  Additionally, the National Association of School Psychologists has sent out guidance HERE regarding the next chapter of this movie.  PLEASE take a moment to educate yourself as your tween and teen will, most likely, watch it or will know someone who has.

As you know, all parents have been notified via phone calls that, after this school year, FSUSD will no longer be printing official progress reports or report cards.  All parents will need to utilize Parent Portal if they aren't already.  Please be sure that you stay on top of Parent Portal so that you know how your student is doing.  Please let us know if you have lost your log in or need assistance by calling our office at 646-7000.

Our lost and found will be donated on Thursday, May 24 after school.  Please stop by and make sure you aren't missing something!

Sport O Rama is COMING Friday, June 1st from 3:15-5:15 in our gym!!  This is an awesome team building/game playing event that we love to include the whole school and our families!  Cost is $2.00 per person and $5.00 per family!  PE Department will be selling snacks for purchase and it will all be a great time!

We are already planning for and fielding phone calls for 8th grade promotion!  Please mark your calendars for Thursday, June 7 beginning at 10 am!  Here are a few things to note:

• All 8th graders get 4 tickets ONLY
• Tickets are available AFTER Memorial Day weekend and will be signed over to the students directly!  Lost tickets cannot be replaced!
• Rain or shine, we will be outside in the amphitheater
• We ask that all signs, balloons, or anything else blocking the view of other families be left outside or we will hold it in our front office
• If you want to bring your own chair, please do so
• Gates for families promotion will not be opened until 9:30 AM
• Any sibling that attends GVMS and wants to attend promotion, must be signed out by an adult on their emergency card and must also have a ticket!
• All 8th graders are dismissed immediately after promotion ends

Please help us support our furry friends with our SPCA Hands To Paws Drive happening now until May 24!  Our Leadership students are collecting new pet items and donation to support the SPCA!  Help out if you can!  Thanks!

Please remember that we have DAILY morning announcements (HERE), where important information is shared with all Vikings!  While it is shared over the loud speaker, all teachers project it and hard copies are always available in the front office and the library.  Additionally, it is always updated on our website!  Please make sure that you (along with your Viking) stay up to date on all information from GVMS.  Thank you!
