Thank you to ALL of our GVMS Families for another productive, successful and positive school year! We have done some amazing things this year and could not have done it without your support! From Challenge Day to increasing our technology, to adding STEAM/STEM, to Twitter and Blogging in the classroom, to using HyperDoc and Google Classroom for instruction, to our new garden, to over 2,200 Good News Referrals awarded for students, to new clubs on campus, to very successful PTC fundraisers, to increased communication and sharing all things GVMS, to Gold Ribbon award...It's been a great year! We wish all of our outgoing 8th graders success in high school!
We are looking forward to another fantastic year at GVMS!!
*8th grade promotion is Thursday, June 8th at 10 AM. Each 8th grade who is promoting will be receiving 4 tickets only THIS WEEK and gates will open at 9 AM for all. EVERYONE needs a ticket with the exception of small children who are sitting on laps. We just don't have the space!
*Parking will be tight, so you'll want to get here on time and we will open part of the blacktop for extra parking.
*We will have designated stroller parking, as well as, additional disabled persons parking and seating.
*Students are able to wear nice clothing for promotion (please be appropriate). Please keep in mind that they will be going up and down stairs (girls with heels need to practice!) and in metal chairs in the amphitheater.
*Balloons, signs, and anything else that can block the view of others will NOT be allowed in the gates. We will check them at the door and your student can get them on their way out the door.
*PTC will be on hand to sell waters (we anticipate that it will be hot) for those interested.
*Any siblings that attend GVMS and will be attending promotion MUST have a ticket and MUST be signed out if you leave before the regular dismissal time of 12:00 PM.
*Though it is a minimum day, ALL students (6th-8th) need to be here when we start school at 8:36 or they will be marked tardy.
**All students (including 8th graders) that have fines (textbooks or library books that are not destroyed returned) students WILL NOT get their promotion/award certificates. Report cards will still be mailed, however, all fines need to be paid before promotion day.
*Incoming 7th grade students MUST have their current immunization record showing that they received their Tdap booster on or after their 7th birthday. It MUST be received before ANY 7th grader may pick up their class schedule for 2017-2018.
*All 8th graders MUST have their proof of residency turned into the office before they will be given their 9th grade schedule in FSUSD! Please turn it in!
We are still in school so PLEASE help us help our students remember the school rules as we are STILL in school: Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible. Please help us make the last few days of this school year a success for everyone on our campus! Thank you!
