Our Kids are More Stressed Than We Realize—Use This Practice to ...

Distance learning has cause some stress that no teacher, student or parent saw coming.  We have learned, over the last two months, that things are WAY beyond our control.  We have also learned that it is up to the adults to keep our kids and students calm.  We have found that mindfulness activities have helped many students (and adults) focus and re-center themselves.

Take a look at THIS ARTICLE for 10 ways to help instill mindfulness in your Viking to help them remain calm, strong, and less stressed!

ATTENTION CURRENT 6TH GRADERS:

Please turn in a copy of your child's immunization record showing that they have received the T.dap immunization on or after their 7th birthday to the nurses's office!  They MUST have proof of receiving two Varicella immunizations as well!  Proof of receiving these immunizations must be received BEFORE your student can pick up their 7th grade schedule or attend 7th grade!!!  Call our nurses's office at 646-7000 if you have questions!

Santa Rosa schools see improvement, Escambia remains flat in state ...

The current grading policy change for this progress report is based on the policy that was agreed upon by FSUSD and the teacher's union (FSUTA) over this past weekend.  It states: Students shall be "held harmless" and will not receive a lesser grade than their grade when the last official district grading mark was provided, and may improve their grade as a result of engaging in distance learning after the last official grading period (2/28/20).  This aligns with the State Superintendent of Public Instructions' (SSPI) recent statements that assessments should not be used during this time as a summative measure, but rather as a formative measure to gauge instruction and areas where students may need support.  Following further guidance from the California Department of Education (CDE), SSPI, or Governor, the parties will meet again to determine additional options for grading to ensure equity.
